I've always heard that you can, but recently I have heard that you should rest a day in between your ab workouts.
With that said, I've been working my abs every day for probably 6 years. It helps to change up what exercises you are doing too.

Variety of exercise is the key I have found. For example..an exercise called Mountain Climbers. Its from a workout that also contains a section for females and males which is excellent.
Mountain climbers are done by starting in a pushup position
and then shuffling your feet in and out so that your knees are
moving in under your chest and then back out to starting
position. It sort of resembles climbing a mountain but flat on
the floor. If you want an advanced version, you can also shuffle your hands 8-10 inches forward and backward in
addition to the leg movements. This really makes it a full
body exercise and MUCH more difficult than standard mountain climbers.
After finishing each exercise, rest about 30 seconds before
starting the next exercise. Rest about 1-2 minutes after
completing each "tri-set" before repeating.
This will give you one of the best ab workouts you've ever had
without even doing any direct ab exercises. You'll see what I
mean after you try it!
Once you get away from the myth that a 1000 crunches and 500 situps a day is all you need to do for great abs, then amazing results can be seen.
There is a completely free 65 page ebook about exercise, nutrition, abs and stomaches in particular at http://www.projext.co.uk that you can download (no catch!) and it is excellent.
It helped me greatly.

working them daily will not get you any closer to a flat stomach as they have no effect at all on fat loss. training the abs regularly with out training the opposite muscle is the back called the erector spinae will greatly increase the odds of you having a lower back injury later in life due to the imbalances of those muscles. this is exactly why you are supposed to exercise the entire body evenly.

I work my abs every single day to prepare for track, and I've been doing that for about two years now. A lot of times, I'll feel sore, but never have I actually gotten injured because of it, so, to answer your question, you shouldn't get hurt if you do it every day, but if you feel any sharp, debillitating pain, you should stop. Remeber though, that the more you work at it, the better it will be, good luck!

A small workout can be done daily. (ie, 50 crunches).
I would do every other day. This allows your stomach to rest and gain back strength. This way you can have a consistent workout, and not have to stop from stomach pain because they are over worked.

To get the best results, you should work it everyday. But take it easy. In the morning, do like 3 sets of 10 crunches. Then repeat two more times throughout the day. But remember, don't push yourself. Gradually build it up if you can't do that much. *and the key is to drink lots of water
