IF it has LOCKING hubs - then U need 2 lock them @ the center of the front wheels - if not then they are constant..IF U don't have a lever INSIDE by the center hump next 2 u - then U will have a switch on the dashboard & when IT'S in 4wheel Drive - there will b a LIGHT that lights UP & reads 4X4 - should b 2 wheel HIGH or 4 wheel LOW or 4 wheel HIGH. Highway speeds U use 4 wheel high - in snow GOING slow - use 4 wheel LOW. DON'T DRIVE ON DRY PAVEMENT WHILE IN 4 WHEEL HIGH OR LOW !

Your Jeep Compass has full time 4WD, you don't have to do anything for it to activate. It senses different torque to the wheels and adjusts power to the wheels with the best traction.

Also buy a set of 4 snow chains for your vehicle and keep them with you anytime you are in snow country. The reason you need 4 chains is due to the 4WD system. If you only use 2 the 4WD system will be damaged due to uneven power distribution which will cause the system to overheat.

Read the owners manual. Compass with locking hubs? Sure it has a 6'' long arm lift and 38'' Boggers too.

why did you but compass? jeep is trying to attract speed enthusiast so they made the compass. rear wheel drive "NO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE" because it's more weight. But im sure you wont get stuck my friends dad has one and we were drifting it today here in minnesota and we didin't get stuck once we even went through about 10" of snow.

if i were you i'd trade it it for a wrangler or if you're more suburban style go for the liberty or cherokee
