Hide or Hire?

You hide it with extensive decorations (try asking about the scenery flats used for Roadshows there are usually several stored in an out building you can paint to hide bits of the room you don't want to see..

As for hiring ask the Bishop he can put you in contact with the person in charge of building scheduling...

Depending on the size of the reception and the size of the hall you may want to consider one of the smaller rooms in the building as most cultural halls are the size of a Basketball court or larger..

I will go out on a limb and assume you mean "hire".

If a member of the wedding party (bride, groom or parents of either) is LDS, then the building is there for their use, as long as that is the building that they use weekly for their meetings. There is no fee for using the building, but you are expected to clean up after yourself.

We are having my parents' 50th anniversary party at their building in a couple of months.

Yea, as paula r said you just talk to the Bishop of the ward and he will let you know if the building is available the day of your reception. Thats what I did, when I had a civil marriage that was not a temple marriage, and I was a jackmormon, I just talked to my relief-society president, who got me a metting with my bishop and he let me know that the building was open for my use.
As for decorations, I think they helped with that to and then I provided the DJ and they have tables and chairs and you can use their kitchen. I had to clean up after myself though.

If you mean "hire" instead of hide, you can talk to the local Bishop about using it. To members of that local area, it should not cost anything, but is available to members to use as can be scheduled to not conflict with other rearranged uses.
