The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) have had members in France for over 100 years and LDS chapels can be found in most French cities these days. I served as a Mormon Missionary in Paris over 30 years ago.... no, not with Mitt Romney! I think what you are talking about is the LDS Temple that is planned to be built in Le Chesnay, next to Versailles. Other LDS Temples dot the globe. Other new Temples in Europe also include one in Rome, and another one planned for Lisbon. Existing Temples in Europe can be found in the UK (2), Copenhagen, Sweden, Germany (2), Switzerland, Madrid and also in the Ukraine. These have a different function from our normal Sunday Meetinghouses, primarily for Marriages and the Sealing of families together for Eternity. The Church has already bought the property for the Paris Temple (at Le Chesnay) and the building permit has been issued by the local Mayor. It is still in the planning stage. Mitt Romney's election, or otherwise, will not have any bearing on this at all.

If Kucinich gets elected, he'll tithe 10% of his salary at Star Trek conventions...

If that's how he wishes to spend his money, so be it.
Let me state the "if" is a pretty big "if." Romney is going to have a difficult time of convincing the Evangelical voters that he is a Christian. He also has to move towards the center if he somehow manages to get the GOP nomination.

Hello Bete Noire.
You know it will. I going to P O the Catholics, Jews, Protestants, Muslims, Quakers, Amish, Wiccans and Atheists (I heard they're filling for equal rights on the Tithing thing) and everyone else who couldn't get one of there own voted in.
The Harri Krishna couldn't care less since they got 'dibs' on the Holy Airport Concessions.

If he spend 10% of it on Delta Airline tickets would that upset anyone?
If he spent 10% of it on See's Candy would that upset anyone?
If he spent 10% of it on library fines, would that upset anyone?
I just don't see how anyone spends their money is a problem for anyone in a country founded on freedom from religious bigotry.

I shouldn't think so. He'll probably earn less as President (assuming he is elected) than he does now and afterwards, as a President's business affairs have to be held in trust during his administration.

He's a multi-millionaire. I don't think that the Mormons are going to get any more rich from 10% of the $400,000 earned by the President than they will from the millions he makes each year, anyway.

Seeing how he said that if he gets elected he will donate his salary to charity, I don't think it matters.

Probably, because there's always someone with a bee in their bonnet, but I won't be one of them. It's Romney's salary. He can do whatever he wants with it.
