Probably yes. At least he is trying to get your attention, and in middle school mentality, that's one way of going about it. Boys that age are much too self-conscious to admit even to themselves, that they like a girl, so they put on the clown act, or get one of their friends to intercede for them. But cheer up, eventually they grow up, usually much slower than girls, though.
