People do still call him 'St Nicholas' but the Vatican threw him off the board before there were Protestants.

If memory serves me, the Vatican II Council removed several noted Saints saying they were not true saints or never really canonized by the Catholic Church. Along with St Nicholas, St Patrick and St Christopher were other saints who were removed from the Canonization roles. I believe it was because they were more legendary than real, in the view of the Council for Vatican II

And I still have my St Christophers medal and celebrate St Patricks day, but check it out if you don't trust me.

He didn't get kicked off the board. The spirit of St. Nicholas is alive and well.

Have a good evening. I wish you well.
