It's not based on age but on the maturity level. Age is only used to protect children. Just because you are old enough by the laws to have sex doesn't mean you are ready. You are ready when you can accept responsibility for your actions. Most people reach full maturity after college but few wait to indulge in sex.

Completely depends on the mental state of the person in question. I think guys usually are more "ready" when they're around 16 or 17, but girls usually take a little more time. I waited until I was in a serious relationship when I was 22, sometimes I wish I'd started sooner, but then I realize that it was just right for me. I wouldn't change a thing (although I'm not with that guy any longer). Then again, ff you're not old enough to type in complete sentences with complete words, you're not old enough to be having sex, in my opinion.

Don't do it because you feel pressured, don't do it because your friends are, don't do it because you want your boyfriend/girlfriend to stay with you, and don't do it because you think that getting pregnant will make your boyfriend stick around. Do it because you're in love and completely trust someone and want to bring your relationship to another level, otherwise you'll regret it.

AND BE SAFE!

In my opinion after you've gotten your life straight and you're certain that person is who you want to give it to. My boyfriend is a virgin at 21 and I regret not being one because he's saved himself for the right woman. I can't go back and change what I've done in my life, but I can say if I had it to do over again I'd waited at least until I was over 21 and knew I was making the right decisions. At 21 you generally know the reprocussions of your actions if you're irresponsible, but hopefully you could wait until you've gotten your life straight and are out of all schooling. If it can't wait then just be very cautious and please if you're under 18 don't even think about it yet.

In my opionion, when you are mature and ready and are in a stable relationship. I was honestly 14 when i lost mine (month before I turned 15) but I had been with the man for 6 months prior. He was my first and will be my last, since now we are still together and married. Everyone is different. I was ready and had my priorities straight and was even on b/c 3 months prior to anything happening. Just be safe.

I think it's better to wait till you're a legal adult and can therefore understand and deal with any of the consequences. Even if you are past 18, don't you want your first time to be when you FEEL like it's right? There's no set time for it, it's all up to you. Just don't do it because all your friends have, everyone's different, and they should respect you for having the guts to make your own decision.

It's best to wait until you are fully ready for the consequences of having sex. If you can't handle an unplanned pregnancy, then don't have sex. Ideally you should wait until you're married but there is no certain age that makes a person ready for sex.
