The picture is good and all of a sudden it will turn green or red or fade down to a really dark picture, it will then come back to normal.

What ever it is my gut feeling is that it is not the pic tube ! Since I have spent 40 + years solving such problems my gut feelings are usually correct !!.
It could be as simple as bad solder joints on the CRT neck board . As in all cases however the advice is the same and that is to get a TV Tech to look at it and give you an idea of the cost !

Does this happen when you first turn it ON, or does it do it sporadically through out your viewing time? Either way, it sure looks like your CRT is slowing heading South. Time to upgrade. Merry Christmas
