I'm a thirteen year old girl in the nineth grade... i'm looking for classes and stuff to get started on my career goal as an aeronautical engineer... I would like to start taking online classes and stuff now, if you have any ideas on starting my aeronautical engineering goals please let me know... thanx and happy holidays.

Oh, and I definetly know that this is the career field I want to go into.... I have built like 4 test tunnels similar to the ones used by the Wright Brothers in the 1800's... I have competed at 3 regional competitions winning 2nd and 3rd place in the category of aerodynamics and hydraulics- engineering... I have also tested many various wings... I've done a lot of studying... and I know almost all of the basic principles and stuff of flight and aircraft design. O and I know how to use inventors and CAD already for designing parts... and I have also helped my dad in revamping is entire aircraft... it was a blast!

Hey I did my undergraduate in aeronautical engineering. Now I am in the US in univ of alabama at birmingham doing MS in mechanical engineering, in a field called computational fluid dynamics which finds wide application in aerospace. If you have specific questions, please mail to me at prapanj_univ@yahoo.co.in . and I dont want to give trivial answers in these answers forum. I am sure you have lot of specific questions.
See you. Disclaimer: I might not be so educated as u might expect.

Read Stick and Rudder by Wolfgang Langewiesche. It explains the basic ideas of flight, which are usually mis-taught in school.

Start really working on math and physics. Not just to pass with good grades but to the point you can think in the terms used.

The Air and Space Museum is a good place to get started and will ease you into the more technical sites.

And stick with the math and physics.

Like the others have said, physics and math (all you can get). If your high school doesn't have a physics program, or it's only open to seniors... take chemistry in the mean time.

All three of these you'll take again in college, but think how easy it will be having taken them in high school first. All three are fundamental to any of the engineering fields you may chose to follow in the future.

Good luck, and congratulations on being way ahead of most of us (careers and goals) when we were in the 9th grade.

Concentrate on your math & physics in school.
The best thing you can do at 13 is to start building
flying models. The practical feel for the basics you
gain will help your studies later. it will also test
whether you really want aeronautics.

Physics, physics, and more physics - and calculus.

After you have mastered classical and modern physics and fully understand the concepts then begins the statics, mechanics, and fulid mechanics. By the time you get done with this it will be time for college.
