I am not a doctor, but i play one on tv,:P
I know..this seems to be a serious question, so..sorry for the above remark. Anyway, at 17, i would think not, it takes years for cancer to develope to the point where it is noticeable. My g/f just said that one of her friends did have breast cancer, and did have the lump, but with her friend, there was no pain associated with the lump. and her friend is my g/f's age..27. So, here is wishing the best for you!! You are alright, more than likely it's an ingrown chest hair ~ and/or a pimple ~ ask your doctor about it. In the meantime, just keep an eye on it. And more importantly, do not...not stress over it, stress can do terrible damage to the body.

Cancer tumors aren't normally painful to the touch. Although not extremely common, men CAN have breast cancer. Because it's tender to the touch,It's more likely an ingrown hair, a bruise, or a cyst of some sort. Don't be embarrassed to let your doctor know about it and have a biopsy done of it if necessary. It's better to be safe than sorry!

It doesn't necessarily mean you have cancer. You could just have a fibroidadenoma, which is just a non cancerous lump. I had those and the doctor told me that since mine hurt, he wasn't worried. Even if anything hurts, I find it is best to just have it checked out anyway. They can do an ultrasound to find out more and then a biopsy. It can happen to men and women.
My prayers are with you.

First, relax. Only 2000 patients per year are diagnosed with male breast cancer. As in females, risk increases with age, with median age of approximately 67 years; it rarely occurs in those younger than 30 years.
See a doctor so that you have peace of mind.

Incredibly unlikely. You have to wait two decades or so to have this level of hypochondria lol
For a young person, I believe testicular cancer or thyroid cancer are the most common. Breast cancer is something most people develop much later in life, and men are not so likely to get it as a woman.

considering that you didn't describe the "lump"it is very difficult to speculate. As one stated it is highly unlikely, but it is a high possibility. The percentage of males with breast cancer is very high. Preventive medicine is the best medicine, get it checked!!

Almost certainly not. It is extremely rare in men of your age. If it doesn't resolve itself as a spot or something similar in a few days then go and see your doctor, but the chances are enormously against it being anything at all.

no it definitely is not cancer. there may be a lump in your chest but it does not follow that when you have a little lump in your chest you'll have cancer. if you want to make sure go see your oncologist they specialise on diagnosing and treating cancer. go kid see your doctor to lighten your head about that lump. okay?

I doubt it, I had a similar sore lump, and the doctor said it was sore through poking it, see the doctor to put your mind at rest.
