I have never ever touched my eye brows Alhumdulillah. It is strictly forbidden and I wonder how could some muslim sisters have just closed their eyes towards it. BUT if they believe that their face is not looking good just because of the eye brows then they can trim them only to make your face look slightly changed and that shall only to be done to make up yourself for your husband.

The most important truth that should be known is acquiring the knowledge of the Qur'an and Hadith.
Abdullah (bin Masoud) said: "Allah curses those ladies who practice tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and those ladies who remove the hair from their faces and those who make artificial spaces between their teeth in order to look more beautiful whereby they change Allah's creation". His saying reached a lady from Bani Asd called Umm Yaqub who came (to Abdullah ) and said: "I have come to know that you have cursed such-and-such (ladies)?" He replied: "Why should I not curse these whom Allah's Apostle has cursed and who are (cursed) in Allah's Book!" [Reported by Imams al-Bukhari and Muslim ].

Rest Allah knows the best~!

Salam,

I do not pluck or remove my eyebrows in any way. I used to, but then found that in pictures, I did not look like myself. What Allah sub7anih wata3ala gave me is more than what I or any salon can create to match my features.

Yes this is forbidden. It is makrooh and not a sin or 7aram. There is a hadeeth which the sisters before me have quoted.

I did not need to do it, but it is peer presure. You feel you should because others are doing it. When in fact.. they only look good at first because it is 'different' but then... it is not right on their faces. Sad thing is... I have seen many Muslim brothers begin to do it... and I am sorry to say.. but it looks so disgusting. When men begin to resemble women and women begin to resemble men... isn't that the beginning signs of judgement day being near? La7awla wala quwata ila bilah.

Yes, tattoos and the reshaping of teeth is makrooh also. Why people are so interested in getting a tattoo which will only turn green later beheaves me. Even thoughtit says 'Allah' or 'Moh'd' pbuh, it is wrong. Why must you show you love Allah and the last prophet to others?

I believe if we all began to do things for the sake of Allah and not for the sake of impressing others... we would be better people!~~~~~~~~~~~~~JAK!

No, but to really answer the question let's just say I have naturally arched eyebrows and have never had the urge or pressure to arch them...also yes I do know that it is a sin to shave, pluck, thread,or wax the eyebrows. The prophet M said the woman would be cursed if she did this...because you are trying to deface what Allah created and that's what shaytan wants from us. So now that you females here have read this you are now responsible for your actions in your next shaving of the eyebrows

My eyebrow hair is light, the extra two or three hairs (thank God) are not noticeable. Honestly I use to clean the fine light hairs that are not noticeable, still it would not shape or alter my brows in anyway. My brows are pointy and already shaped by themselves. But now I just leave them be because I don't know if cleaning the extra fine light hairs is haram. Again I never shaped or altered my brows in anyway, and the hairs that I took off were not noticeable, but I wanted them off for me. Peace.

Asalam Alaikum
MashaAllah Maria and ummTalal provided wonderful answers. Not much more I can say :)

Just thought I would add this.

Praise be to Allaah.

Shaping the eyebrows by trimming, shaving or plucking their edges in order to appear beautiful, as is done by some women nowadays, is haraam because it involves changing the creation of Allaah and following the Shaytaan in his tempting of mankind to change the creation of Allaah. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily! Allaah forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners in worship with Him, but He forgives whom He pleases sins other than that, and whoever sets up partners in worship with Allaah, has indeed strayed far away.

They (all those who worship others than Allaah) invoke nothing but female deities besides Him, and they invoke nothing but Shaytaan, a persistent rebel!

Allaah cursed him. And he [Shaytaan] said: ‘I will take an appointed portion of Your slaves;

Verily, I will mislead them, and surely, I will arouse in them false desires; and certainly, I will order them to slit the ears of cattle, and indeed I will order them to change the nature created by Allaah.’ And whoever takes Shaytaan as a wali (protector or helper) instead of Allaah, has surely suffered a manifest loss.”

[Al-Nisa’ 4:116-119]

In al-Saheeh, it was reported that Ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “Allaah has cursed the women who do tattoos and those who have this done, the women who pluck eyebrows and those who have this done, and the women who file their teeth and change the creation of Allaah.” Then he said: “Should I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed, when it says in the Qur’aan (interpretation of the meaning): ‘… And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, abstain (from it)…’ [al-Hashr 59:7]”

oh please....this is dishonorable on so many levels. starting with the words "chick fight" I was turned off...then about fighting over something likely trivial, removing a veil which is very significant, then ogling over looks... and, btw, Muslim women don't look alike any more than Christians do.

Actually you ARE allowed to trim your brows and you are allowed to remove hair from anywhere but your brow bone.

http://islamqa.com/index.php?ref=1161&ln=eng&txt=eyebrows

But everything else yes is haram!

For the ones asking where in the Quran it says that. In the Quran it says to follow in sunnah and it is sunnah that tells us this!

Shaykh Ibn Jibreen said: “It is not permissible to cut the hair of the eyebrows, or to shave it, reduce it or pluck it, even with the husband’s approval. This is not the matter of beauty, rather it is altering the creation of Allaah Who is the Best of creators. A warning has been narrated against doing that and the one who does it is cursed; this implies that it is forbidden.

Allah judges your intentions. therfore if ur plucking ur eyebrows bcoz u think ur ugly, or u think u wud look more prettier if u did, then tht is wrong, as Allah created u uniquely, with ur own shape. if u try to change the shape of ur eyebrows, or somehign liek that, shave em of completely n stik a pair of fake ones on, thats silly. its almost liek plastic surgery. ur changing ur own characteristics, and being ungrateful to Allah for what he has given you. whatever u do, make sure its nt drastic plz, if u pluck about 5 hairs or something, its not gna really change ur look or nething, but... yuno just dont make a fool out of urself, and make sure u do nothign WRONG. just liek you i dtn really do anythign to my eyebrows and i thank Allah for the patience hes given me. ive actually been bullied throughout school because of mine, as theyr slightly dense. bt theyr nt abnormal, so why wud i want to change my own self. wen i realised this, and my confidence showed to other people, they instead respected me. rated for the statment of being happy with the way Allah made you.
