i just changed my battery in my 99 cougar and now my radio is stuck on one channel and i cant change it i think it thinks that i stole it lol can someone please help me

i have read my owner guide and that thing sucks it never tell me what i need to know lol

just talked to someone the the shop was told to disconnect the battery then turn the key on ,then hook battery back up ??? will this work sounds like bullcrap

You need to see a dealer to get the codes to straighten it out. Next time you want to change a battery, jumper a lantern six volt battery across the leads before disconnecting them. that will maintain the memories while changing the car's battery.

This is the bad part about the new radios.
You will have to reprogram it. If you have the glove box book, it will tell you how. If you dont, you will have to contact the dealer to help you.
.And ye it thinks you stoll it. when the battery gos below a set voltage, it thinks it was stolen from the car as the memory is now gone.

Call the manufacturer of the car. there may be a code that you have to enter to unlock the stereo.
