I'm 21 and looking to replace my '99 Mustang (V6). I'm looking for a fun to drive car that gets better gas mileage than 16 mpg. I want the car to be no smaller than the mustang I drive now (bigger would be nice) and also no older then my car. I'm looking for a used car around the $15,000 mark. It MUST be a fun car to drive though. I would LOVE a WRX but unfortunately they're nearly impossible to find used.

Bett then 16 MPG
Size equal to or greater than 1999 Mustang
Newer than 1999
Around $15,000

Tough choices.
V6 mustang should do better than 16mpg, how about a newer 'stang. or 2000/2001 v6 camaro or firebird. Monte Carlo isn't quite as sporty, but theres nice ones out there.
GTO is nice but you'll never get in your price or mpg range. Eclipse is a littler smaller but nice, just skip the convertible.
Or how about the sporty trucks.

You should be able to find a nice 2004 GTO that will sit you back in your seat. I'm not sure what the milage is but after you have a drive in one it won't matter much, plus I think it's about the same as your Mustang. You can find a decent GTO around the price you're looking at. If you're patient you may even find an '05 in the price range as well. The '05s are a better, faster car anyway.
I'm into the older GTOs but I know plenty of us 'old guys' that also own a newer GTO and they love them. I'm considering one myself when I sell the '67 GTO convertible that I'm currently restoring.
