I'm 19 yrs old and this morning my father took my car to put gas in it and wash it Without my permission. I was very upset and said that he should have asked first. He said i should be thankful that he did a favor for me. I feel that it is disrespectful to use my car without my permission. Am I wrong for being upset? Or am i just unappreciative?

WOW why would you be upset? He did a good thing for you. It was the thought that counts! And he is your father, why does he have to ask you for permission to use your car? Its not like hes using it to go party or leave for a few hours, hes putting gas and washing your car, which is a good father! You are being very unappreciative! Pls dont treat your father as if he was a roomate or a friend, he is your father and you should respect him much more than that! i hate to see people that dont see the value of family, good luck

Unappreciative!!!

I say he did a good thing! Maybe he just wanted to help u a lil!

Maybe you should say thank you for the favor but tell him next time you dont like that kind of surprise of taking your car without your permission!!

You should be grateful, what a nice surprise! Was there something in the car you were trying hide? If so, I could see if you were a little upset. But, most 19 year olds would be very happy with a free tank of gas and car wash. Oh and if you snapped at your Dad you should apologize.

You are within your right to be a little bothered that he took your car without your permission. But think about the fact that he took your car to do you a favor, and you should just let it go....

One of my sayings is no good deed goes unpunished. If you had any respect for your father I think you would appreciate it but it sounds like you arent very close to him. If there is a reason you dont like him taking your car like that then he is wrong. However he did a nice thing considering the price of gas. Send him over to my house he can do it with my car.

No offense but you are very unappreciative! If someone did that for me I would be happy !!!! You should of thanked him. If he took your car to fill and wash it he wasn't gone long, and he wasn't out joy riding. He strictly was doing something nice for you!

Your father did something very nice for you. You should feel ashamed for not feeling treated so kindly. My Dad never did or paid for anything for me. I had to earn my way through college and grad school
back in the 60s. I loved my father but he had seven children and he never made over $6000.00 a year and couldn't afford to help any of us get a formal education.

Both. It was rude of him to take the car with out letting you know first. I can understand if he wanted to surprise you by doing it. He may have thought he was doing something nice. The best way to have handled the situation would be to thank him for doing that for you, but ask that he let you know beforehand.

Yeah, you're wrong and unappreciative. He's your dad. He obviously didn't think he was doing anything wrong. In fact, he was trying to do something nice. Give him a break.
