As end of 2007 approaches near and the start of 2008 coming. What do you think the new year will be like for China/HK?

Any inputs on tourism, employments, ecomony, Heng Seng Index, etc..........will the country be better, worse or the same? What about the food and toys quality?

What are the resolutions you want for China to have for the new year??

For China, due to increasing international recognition and also the Olympics, I see that there is much change and modernisation in the country and of course that is good. However, I hope that this is not a short term temporary action only because of the Olympics but something that the leaders see as a long term and continuing course of action, for the good of the country.

As a lawyer, I hope the legal situation in China continues to improve. Chinese judges are now learning from European and other western nations and their legal systems so they can take this knowledge back to China and hopefully implement it in their own system. Critical areas include education and appointment of judges, lawyers, criminal prosecutions and the jury system.

As for Hong Kong, I hope they will peacefully integrate into China. At the moment, it seems that a majority still oppose any movement by the Chinese government when they act for the good of the nation as a whole. The people must get it into their heads - they are no longer a UK colony, but a part of the PRC. Unity is what makes a country strong.

China is in a period of change. They are playing a game of catch-up with the industrialized world and they still have a government that doesn't know the rules of the game. For a tourist it's still a country of contrast. Singapore is modern and mostly clean but Lanzhou is still really almost as it was 50 years ago.

I believe that the Olympics will have a large affect on the economy , making new jobs and more tourism.

The quality of products may not improve though

New resolution would be to raise health standards

China is going to hell in a hand basket as the international community will realize how racist, selfish, and lawless the country really is during the Olympics.

It's a shame because there are a lot of good Chinese people, but all that MANY foreigners remember are the countless scam artists and worthless cops that take kick backs....pathetic

I'm more concerned with year 2011 than 2008.
