I guess it depends on the age of the child.
Toddlers (at least in my experience!) say they are hungry all the time because they don't yet understand the difference between actual hunger and "I want something that tastes yummy". My son can sit down and eat me out of house and home (he can eat an entire box of mac and cheese to himself, and he's not even 4 years old yet!) and yet he still stays SUPER skinny and will walk away from the table saying he's hungry because he wants something else (yogurt or ice cream or a granola bar usually).
My MIL used to yell at me for "not feeding him enough" until he stayed at her house for the weekend once and she realized that our son is a bottomless pit...and even though he's skinny and says he's hungry that doesn't mean we don't feed him, it just means he has hollow legs! LoL
However, if your child is older (I'd say probably 5 or 6 and up) then they know the difference between hungry and wanting a different type of food, so if they say they're hungry you should be feeding them every time.
As long as you were feeding them appropriately a kid just *saying* that they're hungry shouldn't be reason enough to lose custody. You need a better lawyer!

Thats so silly! my 2 year old always tells me she is hungry or points at things she wants to eat even if she has just had a meal! She wont necercarily eat it but she does it coz it look interesting or becaise she sees someone else eating it. Kids tend to prefer what they see others eating. I think it is ridiculous that you lost custody partly because of this. Seek legal help!

My kids do that all the time. They will eat hardly anything that I make for dinner and 5 minutes after leaving the table they ask for something more to eat???? They are constantly wanting food especially snacks! I'm so tired of hearing "can I have a snack?"

Since kids have small stomach's they are hungry all the time. During meals and not.We kinda take the approach with our kids that as long as our kids eat their meals (if they don't finish them the plates stay at the table and the kids can finish it if they get hungry again) and then as long as the meals are gone they can snack on heathly foods. That way we don't have the "I'm hungry all the time". lol.

Thats not right at all. Every child says theyre hungry all the time. I mean, if you're NOT feeding them then obviously they ARE hungry. But all kids say theyre hungry when they want something to do, or something different to eat... or just because.
Thats so rediculous.
