My parent's slipped up and forgot to put the presents under the three so we all saw them put the presents there. That's how we found out.
Also, the 11 year old probably has his/her friends tell him/her that he's not real. The 9 year old...maybe has the same situation.
If you just tell them, I'm sure that they won't be completely heartbroken, just make sure they know that the presents still came from YOU. And they'll still get some, just not quite as much as usual...And that it's not forever.

Well not because money is tight means that you have to spoil the kids christmas by telling him something that will break his heart. Christmas is special to kids only becasue they think that santa exists. If money is tight get him somthing that dosent cost much money. Why do that to him at such a young age. They look forward to santa and the toothfairy so dont ruin his christmas or his childhood.

dont tell them anything. let them figure it out on their own. im sorry money is tight. ive been there. some years we didnt get anything at all for christmas but our mom would still figure out a way for us to have a good christmas anyway. we would go downtown and see santa or something at least. think of something!

My parent stold me when I was 10- simply because we were in the same situation. My mom was pregnant and it was difficult because she was 46 and they had to pay for a lot of treatments to have my little sister, Lola. They said, "Lawryn, if you don't mind, giving some of your present money to Lola?"
"No. 'Cause Santa will bring me some."
"We're santa. We're sorry."
My parents had me tell my sister Laina when she was12. They got to live it out a little longer than I did. Laina had her doubts though when she was 11 and saw me, my dad and my mom wrapping up the presents!

I feel that children in todays world need to beleive in anything thats good. If your children believe that Santa is real then try and get the one present that they are asking santa for.

DON'T! There are so many things in society that are taking away the innocence of our children! Don't add to it!
Children need to believe in Santa, the tooth fairy, easter bunny, etc etc! Its a part of growing up!
They need to continue having something that is magical for them! The magic of Christmas, easter and all the others is something they need!!!!

Tell them about who the real santa was, and what he did for boys and girls in his area, and why we teach our children that he still comes. Explain that you want them to emulate such a man, but now theyre old enough to know the truth and to be part of the fun for the younger kids.

Why tell them that, give them some kind of hope, nothing is wrong with kids believing in Santa, they will eventually learn that he isn't real on their own
