This morning I had an unusually strong panic attack that required me to take an ativan (something I have been weening off the past year to the point now I average about 1, maybe 2 .5 mg pills per week.) I'm also a writer and have decided to pick that up again with the hopes it will make me feel more comfortable. Anyone else use writing as a remedy for panic attacks? If so, what's best to write about?

I write to calm myself and focus my thoughts and it really helps. If I am driving (that is when I tend to get the worst bouts) I have a mini tape recorder that I talk into to clear my thoughts - some of my best stories and poetry has come from a panic attack. I did find that if I write daily (30 minutes or so) I have less attacks - so maybe it is more that my brain is demanding I write and the attacks are a way to make me. Hope you get the attacks under control and are med free soon! Good Luck!

Time to take control of anxiety and get on with life. Some anxiety is normal - but it shouldn't interfere with your ability to function. According to research or other evidence, the following self-care steps may be helpful:

yes i do me personallly,it helps because ,most sufferers are introverts, they bottle things up and never let them out,.....to me that causes panic attacks. so any release that you get is great. if you write it down it releases it and makes you less tense.
