I agree 100% The fastest 43 race or go home. People whining about how so and so would have to take the chance on missing a race... THAT'S THE FRIGGIN' POINT! If you can't go fast, you don't need to be in the front. I think it would be great for the sport. You'd see more drivers getting a chance. You'd see more talent rising to the top. NASCAR needs to stand up to it's sponsors and tell them that compition is more importiant than TV time. If not, fans are going to continue to loose interest, and you're going to end up with the WWE on wheels. It's not far from that now.

I am all for an equal playing field but personally I think that they should reward the drivers for winning the races and being so consistent because its not really their fault for having a bad race because someone else made a mistake and cost them their chance to finish the race. I think instead of the top 35 make it the top 20 or 25. That way if you have a bad qualifying run it doesnt kill you if you're trying to make it into the Chase or win the Championship. How would that help you? It wouldnt. Now, I also think that they should keep the past Champions provisionals because you should reward a past champion and that would make it seem like they dont care about their past champions or the root of the sport and its history. I dont think thats the message they want to send out. Well considering that the sponsors run the sport and make the sport possible I'm pretty sure that NASCAR has to help the sponsors. Who says that they dont help the fan? I mean they provide us all this great information and technology and benefits, so whats not to like? They try and make the race as enjoyable as possible for us and the sponsors give the driver a car to drive and the parts to build the car, which in turn gives us a race to watch, and that race entertains us. So I'm pretty sure the sponsors play a big role in NASCAR just like we do..

I am a quailifing fan.
The "race" to ge into the race is as much fun sometimes as the race it's self.
But with the "B.S" of the top 35 and provisionals(just free rides for teams) this is the worst plan NASCAR has implimented.
Drop these things make the drivers and teams work for their quailifing spot.
If 55 cars show up the FASTEST 43 race.Sorry if a major driver quailifies 44th he was not fast enough.Oh but driver so-and -so cut a tire and could not complete his lap sorry see you next week.
But the champion from last year blew an engine in quailifing he needs a free ride, not like any other see ya next week.
So get the quailifing back to the fastest 43.
Get rid of the free rides(top 35 and provisionals).

If I were in charge, everybody gets two attempts to qualify. The fastest 42 make the race, others go home and try again next week. I'm sentimental enough to allow one champion's provisional, winning that Cup ought to have a few perks.
Oddly enough that's how qualifying works in the NHRA (but no provisionals). Sometimes John Force, Warren Johnson, or another star doesn't make the race . . . and yet the sponsors and fans survive somehow.
I suppose I'd consider compromising with a top-10 rule, if only to give reporters something to talk about other than the top couple guys. But that's it.

There have been plenty of reasons given for both sides of this argument. I think it should be the top 20-25 in owners points are locked in, not 35. It would indeed be bad for the sport if drivers like Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. didn't make a race.
From a pure racing standpoint, owners' points may not seem fair. But from an overall standpoint, it is fair. Those owners have dedicated a lot of time and money to the sport, and their hard work has made NASCAR the sport it is today. What do you think NASCAR would be like today if it weren't for Jack Roush, Rick Hendrick, and Richard Childress (just to name a few)? They should be allowed a certain amount of "slack" when it comes to qualifying, but not as much as we currently give them.
Oh, and for the guy who made the comment about Boris Said. If he were able to race on a regular basis, he would draw tons of money for a sponsor. He's got a lot of fans already, and him racing full time would boost his popularity significantly. His only problem is that he's getting up there in age.

NASCAR qualifying is a JOKE.. They need more than one change!
A. Fastest 43 race
B. Make it more interesting where possible by letting multiple cars go out w/ time intervals between them
C. Make the qualifying time the avg. speed/time of 3 laps.. Not just the best time between 2 laps like now.

Nascar isn`t gonna change anything for me or any of us but I like the Idea of the 43 fastest cars lining up and racing
someone mentioned it on here the other day Boris Said
Qualified almost the fastest and had to go home
But this is what we got so we gotta live with it ,Boris Said doesn`t generate Millions of Fan Dollars every week

You said "listen to the fans" What do you think the fans would say if Jeff or Tony Spun during quals and didn't make the race? They have just spent $150 for a nosebleed ticket and their driver does not make the field. Then you will hear some fans.lol Don't get me wrong I am not crazy about the way it is set up now but I don't know what to do to fix it. Maybe a top 10 lock would work better.

I'm old school, yes the fastest 43 would be great..But Nascar is about money and sponsors now, so we are stuck with the top 35, I'd like to see it expanded maybe to 38, but nothings gonna happen..all Nascar top brass know is $$$$, fans we are the low notch on the totem pole..But yep, I'm a fan and I'll always will be a fan..

If they want to lock in the top 35, then why not have everyone else qualify on time first. That way incase of rain those not in the top 35 might be able to get in. Just put the top 35 at the back. No past Chumps provisional either.
