I experienced today how big hate can be. A man tried to run me down with his van. Not on accident, actually giving the van gas and aiming for me while I walked to my car. I had to run between cars to get away from him. Thank God I am ok. The only thing that made me different from anyone else in that mall parking lot was I am a covered Muslim woman. This was witnessed by several people, after it was over no one knew what to do, even I didn't. I have had some time to calm down about this and now I wonder about other people. Is your hate and anger towards another religion so great that you would ever consider doing this? Do you think there is any justification in this mans actions?

I highly doubt anyone got the license plate, the man sped out of there really fast afterwords. I am still blown away by the whole situation, maybe a report should be made I don't think it would do any good though.

You are right it is a lot of psychological trauma it is scary to be a pregnant woman running the parking lot from a van trying to hit you and everyone around being helpless to do anything. It just got me thinking, thankking God that I wasn't hit, and wondering how scared should I really be to step foot out in my own country.

Maybe the his reason was different for trying to do this, but the only obvious difference between me and anyone there was my clothes, which represent my religion. Who knows if he was Christian or Jew or athiest or whatever. Maybe he was just a crazy man. Regardless I am still upset about the situation.

They said there isn't much they can do because this happened this morning and I didn't report it untill now. I thought I was calmed down, i guess I am still scared. I just feel like an idiot because maybe it was an accident but I can't reason that it was, the guy came right at me. gave it gas and aimed the van at me and sped away it just doesnt make sense.

I ride a motorcycle so this is nothing new to me.
About twenty years ago a friend of mine who was a lesbian was riding her sportster down the Lodge and a guy in a truck put her into the wall. If any of you have been in Detroit you know the lodge is deep with straight concrete walls. She lived, thank god.
Maybe it was some guy who hated lesbians, maybe someone who hated bikers, maybe someone who hated women on motorcycles. No one will ever know.
Anyone who rides has had people deliberately try and run them down. It happens. People hate.
There really isn't any reason why.
PS: I read the first post and thought...."How big is your love?" then I saw the thumbs down and I asked myself, "did the guy mean his equipment?" I might not ever know, but, it just goes to show how differently people think about things.

I would never do something like this. I wonder if he lost someone in Iraq or at the world trade center. Regardless - he shouldn't be taking out his anger on you just because you're Muslim. I don't think killing another person (or attempting) is EVER justified unless it's in self defense. Otherwise - no. Did you get the license plate? If so - you should report it.

Hate...
Well a persons hate can equal their love...
As much as a person can love, is as much as a person can hate...
However a person can differentiate between an individual and that individuals ethos...
Meaning a person can hate an individuals ethos and not the individual.
In other words, Hate what they do, but love who they are as a person.
My hatred of other religions is paramount and will not change. Although my hatred is great, I harbor no ill-will toward those who believe such religions... That is their choice and not for me to judge...
I hate Islam, however, I have many Muslim friends, and they know my stand... We have boundaries and we openly and honestly talk about our beliefs... I do not condemn them and they do not condemn me... I am not afraid to express myself and my beliefs and I encourage my friends to express their selves and their beliefs... One more thing is necessary, TOLERANCE of other peoples worldviews (religious and cultural)...
It is called maturity, some people have it and some do not...
No, this man was not justified in his actions...
I hope you never experience anything like that again...
May you have peace...
Journey Well...
Your pregnant too, Oh that just grinds my gears...
Obviously this man is someone with little respect for others...
That just gets me just plain angry...
I hope everything is fine for both you and your child...

There is no room in our world and our society for such hate, regardless of a person's religion or anything else. I hope you reported this to law enforcement, and that the perpetrator is caught and suffers the consequences of his actions. He has shown by his actions that he is a threat to society.
I am very glad that you are OK. :)

Theres no justification for that. You should go to the police or something, what he did is crazy and must be against the law.
I feel for you and I really hope that people come into their senses and just accept that some people just have different beliefs.

Call the police - hate crimes are severely punished.
There will always be intolerant people in every culture. They are to be pitied, for they will never know peace.

That man was obviously extremely prejudice and intolerant. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior towards any other living creature based on what their customs or rituals are in every day life. The fact that this man had so much hate for no reason is incentive enough to imprison him for life. The fact that no one bothered to help you or ask if you were ok is just as bad. To answer your question, my hate doesn't exist, unless it is directed towards hate, in which case I have infinite capacity to hate hate itself.

there is no justification for hate...
taking defensive action is fine... but being the aggressor when the other person has done nothing to attack you is completely wrong.
being shy of those who are different is understandable ... but it should never lead to violence of any kind.
