I run Windows XP MCE 2005, and I just cleaned a virus, now that, that has happened, All the icons on my desktop are highlighted in blue. How can I make them transparent to the background like before?

wow...now im afraid to answer the question.

is it the whole icon thats blue? or is it just the words underneath?

-Right-click My Computer
-click Properties
-click Advanced tab
-click Performance options button (or just settings)
-Look for the desktop settings (or visual effects) and scroll to the bottom---> Drop Shadows for Desktop Icons

edit:
well thats wierd. maybeyou have active desktop enabled?
try this
-right click on desktop
-click properties
-click desktop
-click customize desktop
-click web
-make sure none of the boxes are checked.

or maybe try messing with your screen resolution.
the virus may have made some sort of permanent registry break.
