I need help. My poor dog has bladder stones. I cannot afford the surgury and I can't afford expensive food/medication, and I don't fully agree with a lot of chemicals. I am looking for a natural way to disolve her stones. They are small enough that they are passing, but there are many. She has been passing them pretty regularily and it's really upsetting for the whole family.

I have tried to get into the K9 Kidney Diet group, but I don't meet their requirements.

I have heard Cranbery juice works, and that cooking my own food works to prevent them.

But I am looking for a way to naturally disolve the stones. There has to be something out there. Herbal, homeopathic, ANYTHING! my puppy is suffering and needs your help!!

Surgery isn't your only option: there is a process called "voiding hydropropulsion" where the dog is placed under general anesthesia and a urinary catheter is placed into the bladder. Basically, they flush water into the bladder, hold the dog in a vertical position, and try to suck the stones back out with a syringe. If the stones are too big, then you would have to get surgery performed to remove the stones. Cranberry juice lowers the acidity of urine so it will work on stones that form in alkaline urine, but not those that form in acidic urine - a urinalysis from the vet will tell you which type of stone your dog has (should be ~ $30 plus exam).

You should not have a puppy if you can't afford medical treatment and now the puppy is suffering!!! What is wrong with you??? If your child was sick would you say oh well I can't afford the medicine??? A puppy is a huge responsiblitly and from the sound of it she doesn't even need surgery she just needs some medicine and a CHANGE IN DIET!!!! Ugh why don't you take the puppy to the ASPCA and tell them that you can't afford you dog and give it to them. Or try to work out a payment plan with your vet???? Now you're going to try some Herbal stuff on a poor defenceless puppy that looks for you for help. Would you do that for your child??? Oh well someone online said this may work lets just try this... Goodness open your eyes and get some medical care for your puppy!!!!!

I so so sorry for your furbabbies pain and believe me it is pain. There is no way that I know of that you can dissolve stones. And she might be passing some small stones, but you don't know how many larger stones she may have.

Some dogs form more stones than other because of their overall body chemistry. Do some reading so you can learn as much as you can about the formation of the stones.

You might try the ASPCA and see if they know of any clinics that will have some financial assistance for the surgery. In some areas the ASPCA have great clinics of their own who do low cost care. If not then start some fund raisers and do some drawings for prizes, cookie sales. Whatever it takes to raise the funds, but get her the care she needs and do it fast. If you or a family member was in pain you would do something and she is a family member..

lots of luck

Your dog has bladder stones. There are several different types, did the vet tell you what kind of stones they were??? Usually the only type of stones that can be dissolved are the type called struvite.....that is usually done by feeding the special diet. Ask your vet what kind of stones he thinks your dog has, if it is struvite ask him for the home recipe that Hill's publishes. If he doesn't have it he can get it by calling the Hills' pet line.

If the stones are oxalate or some other, surgery is the only option. Ask your vet if they have CareCredit.....its is a payment plan/credit card plan for medical bills, you can apply and get an answer within 15 min........Good Luck!!!!

Please check this website for feeding options for dogs and cats with bladder stones.......

My friend's dog had a similar problem and the only real way to help your dog is Surgery. When you got your dog you made a committment to care for her and that is what you need to do.

That is a very painful ordeal for a dog and you need to help her! That's what credit cards are for. If you cannot provide proper medical care for your dog you NEED to contact a her breed's rescue so they can help her.
