yes, that happens.
it happened to me too, and i'm a girl
and idk, i think someone was teasing us and was all, "omg, you guys should totally go out!" that started it off. idk, it just happened

That's perfectly normal.
Not everyone has this instant connection or spark.
Sometimes it grows from first meeting and getting to know each other better.
You obviously like her for her as you want to get to know her better.
