Brittany spaniels have tons of energy and would make a great jogging partner, but will also be very energetic in the house even after lots of exercise.
While golden retrievers make good jogging partners and when they get home they would love to relax with you too.
Depending on which sounds better as a jogging partner is the one you should choose. I just hope that you consider

Any of the sporting breeds would be a good potential jogging partner. However, I would go with the Brittany over a Golden because of the smaller size. Goldens have a horrible problem with hip dysplasia, so any dog you got would have a good chance of having it and therefore not be a good choice for jogging. Brittany Spaniels have less of a problem with this and being a smaller and lighter dog, would be better at running with you.

I would consider the Brittany to be a better jogging partner, I used to run with my aunt's dog when I was younger.

I would not recommend a golden retriever as a jogging buddy.
Goldens are prone to hip and joint problems which would be aggravated or worsened by frequent jogs.
If it is a young golden, you are safe jogging them for short distances, but still...it's risky. One of my goldens was only 4 when he had to have knee surgery to repair a torn ACL!

try dogbreedinfo.com or akc.org for information about these two breeds.
If you are REALLY interested in getting one of these dogs, I would recommend getting in contact with rescues and breeders for more information.
But personally, I think the Golden is a better jogging partner...
Note: never jog with a dog under one year of age for health and development reasons

Check with some rescue groups. Other good joggers, would be any of the cattle dogs, a lab, rotti, grey hound, any of the sight hounds, a ridgeback or a combination of them. You want a reasonably high energy dog.

Ooh, they're both really good. An adult of either would be best, since you don't want to jog with a puppy.
