People pursue religion for many unselfish reasons, but two reasons are selfish. They may pursue it because of the intellectual satisfaction or the emotional satisfaction. Now there is nothing wrong with getting these two benefits, but we have to keep a sense of proportion in our lives. If we do it entirely for these satisfactions, if we pursue the satisfaction, rather then the goal of serving others, we could be in for some problems. We also could be very obnoxious to others.

Yeah and Jesus called it right... He called the Pharisees (the religious nuts of His day) Children of the Devil.
Its no different today.. churches full of legalistic Pharisees who stuff religion, not true faith, down others throats.
Challenge them to raise the dead, and you get a stack of excuses. Thousands have been raised from the dead in the last few decades by the invisible Christians you don't see on TV !

YES. That is true. In Jesus's time there was a group called the Pharisees that followed the rules laid down by Moses and God so closely that they thought that they were better than everything else. They were shocked that Jesus forgave everyone of the big sinners.

The following of true religion is pure and clean.
Satanic following is, as you rightly put it, obscene.
