wherever i am i always see someone crossing their legs (at the knee) i've seen so many people do it mainly women. my gilfriend always crosses her legs when she sits no matter what she is wearing. i was just curious why people do it, and do you notice when you do or out of habbit? is it really that comfortable?

It's actually not considered "proper etiquette" but many people find it comfortable, I guess.

I've personally tried to stop after reading this:

When sitting, should a woman cross her legs?

I wouldn't cross your legs in a skirt thats kind of crazy..just keep your legs close together or better yet wear a dress with covering..

any who as far as why so many people cross their legs on the today show or something they say people do it when they are most comfortable..which I guess is true but could also be alot of other things - blood flow - etc..or maybe the person is really sexy or feels confident ..

hum thats my 2 cents..

Women/girls are taught to do that for several reasons including the most obvious. It does become a habit after a while. It's not comfortable for everyone however. You should never cross your legs at the knees because it will cut off the blood circulation and cause those ugly, varicose veins as you age.

People do that because of two main reasons,
1. It's really comfortable
2. You really have to go to the bathroom.
It is just a very common and comfortable position, and girls just tend to cross their legs more. I'm a girl and my legs are crossed right now :)

I started doing it when my fourth-grade teacher told me to. It's considered ladylike. It is comfortable, actually, at least more comfortable than keeping my legs together without crossing them.

Yes, it's really that comfortable. Also, when wearing a skirt or dress, it is necessary.
