I've never understood exactly what constitutes asking a girl "out" as opposed to "hey, lets get coffee or go to a museum"?

Is there a difference? Must "asking out" including "would you dine with me, fair lady"?

Thanks

There is no difference. Asking a girl anywhere is basically asking her out.

How you do it doesn't matter but, if you really like the person you need to make sure you're going on a date or while you're out, you try and touch her or kiss her and find she's not with it. You'll be embarrassed and the evening will be a bust

difference is asking a person to a movie or coffee is like asking a friend as friends. as in dating, would be like would you be my gf or bf...or yes to a fine dinner, which is implying that you are interested.
