(Worldwide question);

I get fed up with how quick my sink fills up with washing up, We eat quite a lot of bread type foods- sandwiches, toast etc so I decided to buy, Just for the school holidays, some paper plates & plastic cups (recyclable). Not for our main meals, just snacks, there are four of us and a 5th almost moves in with us during the school hols.

So I'm asking

AM I LAZY OR CLEVER TO THINK OF GETTING DISPOSABLE PLATES & CUPS?

i'd say clever.
the holidays are crazy enough, you shouldn't have to worry about cleaning three-thousand dishes afterwards.

Lazy? Clever? Maybe a bit of both but maybe something else.
Paper plates & plastic cups to dispose of are not inexpensive in the long run. If you are going to recycle the plastic cups then it doesn't make sense as you still have to wash them.

I have a girlfriend who uses paper towel for snacks. She uses plastic glasses and washes them.

My guess is, you really don't like the washing up part. If that is at least partly right. You are part of a very large group who don't like washing up.

well it's not really that clever as you have to pay for something you will only use for a few mins!(x 5 at a time!) it's just a case of getting into a habit of filling the sink with hot water every so often and washing those plates!

We've all been there! I would say neither clever nor lazy, you just want to be efficient with your time and dishes. Well, clever enough to use the recyclable items! And you're saving water too. Seems like a fine idea to me, I did that all the time before I had a dishwasher.

Lazy or clever, walking a mile is not lazy but being a Tom has a varied evening whilst getting there. There is the reason it needs picking up,the poor thing walked the equivalent of the seattle strip. I suggest its another male victory girls,we even bring them home.Ring some bells,it does with me

A bit of both probably. Environmentally speaking, you're adding more trash to the world. You're also spending more money on the disposable stuff than you would normally.

But if there are five of you, just make a rotation of dish duty chores and get 'em done?

In my house, I've just accepted that the dishes will pile up and I make a point of just doing it once a day and not letting it make me crazy. (In the old days I couldn't stand having stuff in the sink, I've managed to get over it.)

We use paper plates all the time for the small meals. For dinner we use regular china plates. It's a convienence thing.

As to you being clever or lazy?

Well, I can't say clever since I already use paper plates. I'm the cleaver one. So by default, you are lazy. :-)

Clever, your time (whatever time you have left after parenting and homemakeing!) is valuable..don't waste it on additional house chores..take a bubblebath with the time saved! I usually buy discounted (after the holidays) sidp plates to help save money and carry me through the next few mo..often 75% off Go for it girl!

Clever! I do the same for the holidays especially when I've got guest coming over. Saves on a lot of cleanup and who has the time.

i'd say both. a) getting paper plates and plastic cups saves water by not having to wash real plates and cups. b) if they're styrophome, (styrofoam??) then that harms the environment. they just bury them in the ground instead of recycle and then burn them so it harms the environment.
