How come the average adult still believes in God?

Because 10 year olds don't give a toss about big issues (they're 10!).
It's only when we start to develop ideas about mortality that we wish for the possibility of immortality. Those of us that hang on to the wishful thinking typified by 10 year olds choose religion. The rest accept the truth.

You know, there was a real court trial in New York as to Santat Being a real person, The United States Government and The Postal Service believe Santa is a Real person and forward Mail to the North Pole, everyday and every Year...
St Nicolaus was a real person that gave gifts to people in Commemoration of Christ and the act of giving...See the Catholic Encyclopedia or wikkipedia)
The Airforce has Santa Tracking and Grinches will never be convinced that God is real either!

we look at all that is and has been and stand in awe at how great a God the creator is! I believe the bible ,every word of it!iam totally convinced that the bible does not contracict itself but rather is in harmony with itself and verifies itself and aknowledges itself as well. ---------------------Those that do believe in God can be explained by a verse about faith.--------------hebrews 11:1--Faith is the substance of things hoped for ,the evidence of things not seen. read the bible , consider what it says --genesis-revelations, the bible speaks of a God that loves man so much that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. The very earth and all that is green that grows, the air we breathe, the sun ,the rain ,the 4 seasons each year or look at the very complex makeup of the human body , how in many ways it can heal itself , the very fact that we have a mind to think with shows that a creator greater than ourselves created us. People try to argue that their is no God and they are wasting their time , because even as they present their belief ,their breath in fact their very life is made possible at that very moment by the one that they resist the one they claim does not exist, this very one is sustaining them ,how do i know that?because God is the only one and only true God and he it is that is the giver and sustainer of life! but how do i know that. i believe. Consider these things ,look all about you ,at those you love and those who love you, look at how great life itself is with all its wonder and consider that all this did not just happen with a bang, this was all done by a creator who loved those that he created.Some day i hope that i will be with that creator and his son for ever and i hope that you are too. read the bible and let it teach you about the God that you dont know, because he loves you enough that he gave you life, take care,comingonthrusthename

Because kids can see that their parents are delivering the Christmas presents not Santa. What kid is ten before they know?

The same reason that the average adult believes in the IRS, even if they have never been to the IRS building or met someone who works for the IRS, we all know its there and we all file returns every year.

I saw like an 8 or 9 year old that was visiting Santa for pictures at my Church and she asked her mom who was that and her mom said hmm i think thats mr smith... i was like ?!?

God gives better presents.
God is more socially accepted.
God plays the guilt card WAY more effectively!
