I would make the room as if it were a fancy Hollywood dressing room.
For the Hollywood Theme.... I would do it in decade form like a time line on the walls.
I would not form lines on the wall to go from 1920 1930.....that would be too much.... BUT
I would search for items from each decade and sort of mix them in .... the 'old' with the 'new'.....
Find movie clip art and movie reviews..... clips of biographies from people who impacted the motion picture industry and quotes from the stars with their pictures.
Don't forget to find talk shows where people first made their appearances......
As far as designing the room... when I think of Hollywood... I think of glamour. Feather boas on a coat rack ... big beautiful hats.... designer bags with lots of jewels...... a pair of red stelletto heels......
A roaring twenties dress....hung on the back of the closet door ready to go to a high class party or the Academy Awards show......
A glamorous comb and brush set placed on a vanity with a fancy perfume bottle. An apolstered bench at the vanity to sit on while getting hair and make-up ready for a star performance.
Make a scrapbook of Hollywood fashions. Find old magazines and cut out pictures of stars in the designer dresses/tuxes and keep putting more in it from each time you can get your hands on a magazine. Cut out the pictures and stick it in there.
Hope this helped!

I really love these as a start: http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/ProductsHOM.aspx?DeptID=41608&CatID=41608&Grptyp=PRD&ItemId=11f5154&siteID=210054843. I'd use the vanity and the mirror or this ensemble: http://www2.jcpenney.com/jcp/ProductsHOM.aspx?ItemID=11f5146&GrpTyp=ENS&CmCatId=EXTERNAL|41608 Then I'd add Black & white Hollywood glamour portraits in mirrored frames: http://www.picture-frames-r-us.com/display_picture_frames/77-528.asp
I'd paint the walls a subtle light green (eucalyptus?)
This headboard: http://www.bedroom-furniture-direct.com/Skyline-Furniture-740-Bamboo-Mist-SKY1057.html I'd use this FAUX fox fur throw on the bed: http://www.fauxfurathome.com/page/912256
