The method you chose to heat your enclosure will depend on the type of enclosure. Heat pads do not work well in aquariums or other open top type enclosures because they do not raise the ambient air temperature sufficiently enough. A better option for these enclosures are ceramic heat emitters which can be used in porcelain base domes (work lights) or radiant heat panels. The ambient air temperature in the enclosure should fall between 82-84 degrees. Your basking spot temperature should be between 88-92 degrees. Any heat device should be controlled by a thermostat. Ambient air temperature is more important than the basking site temperature. Humidity can be a little trickier. The best approach is to use cypress mulch and lightly mist the enclosure (not the snake) once daily if the humidity needs raising. Ideally you want a humidity percentage of 50-55%. In an open enclosure you may have to seal off part of the top. You can do so by taping 6 mil plastic to 2/3's of the top. If this method is used it is wise to supply additional ventilation by using an aquarium air pump and air tubing. Simply run the tubing into the enclosure and plug in the air pump. In closed type enclosures such as Vision caging, rack drawers, or home made enclosures humidity levels tend to stay in the appropriate range with minimal if any misting.

A Light bulb or a bowling ball! The possibilities are rather short.
As a lightbulb you get turned on easily
As a bowling baqll you have strangers sticking their fingers in your holes!
I guess it comes down to what you like the best.

I'd rather be a light bulb if I had to choose between the 2. I like it because it represents ideas. "the light bulb went on in your head". I like the fact that it represents vision. "Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel?" And it also represents what is good and right. "walking in the light". The light bulb does it for me.
