I, as a christian, totally disagree with this. You are right. It makes no sense.

HELLO people! Remember what happened last time church and state became bed partners? If you don't, just ask all of the dead bodies underneath Vatican City.

Church and state don't mix. It's in the Bible. Read the books of Daniel and Revelation.

Free will is just the easy answer they give when it is convenient. Christians only believe they are right and others are wrong even if the worship the same God. Makes me think that religious people have to have someone to blame. God, Satan or Gay people who have abortions, but someone to blame so they don't have to take responsibility to the own ways or beliefs .

How does the existence of a law restrict free will? People break laws all of the time. Laws only change the transaction costs of our choices. Some feel a duty to resist "evil" and believe that laws applying consequences do that.

As much as slavery, woman emancipation, plantations, murder, big corporations monopolies, etc.. etc... All effects freewill, but society places limits on the individual freedom to the benefit of the greater community.

The real issue is that you wish Christians were banned from this pluralistic society in which you live.

Ain't happening.

What you define is not free will, but anarchy, that society is not governed by any rules.

Ask yourself instead "What is good for society"?

For example, I don't see any restrictions on Sunday Shopping locally, but we have MANY friends who are not able to enjoy Sunday with family or at church, because they must work. If they don't work Sunday, they will be fired.

Who then is applying dogma to whom?

in order to enjoy free will its necessary to prevent those bound by sin from making the rules ... thats the thinking ..

It already is. You don't steal and you don't murder. Those are against the law.
