-- TV is phillips 60pw9363

-- Currently using the Y, Pb, Pr low definition inputs.

-- I still have an "old school" rear projection TV with the DVI input. I would like better quality. Will the cost of upgrading the DVD player with a HDMI output, HDMI cable ($124.00) and HDMI to DVI adapter ($34.00) be worth it? Will the picture clarity improve a lot or a little? Thanks.

Component is anything but low definition. You can send either 1080i or 720p over component.

HDMI is good but overated. No need to upgrade to an upconverting DVD player. Wait until the dust settles and buy an HD DVD or Blu Ray player. By the way, you can but HDMI cables for about $20.
