PS2 online games were pretty much stand-alone, that is, they had their own servers, like in battlefield 2:modern combat, or you could run your own PC servers like in star wars battlefront.
us.playstation.com is the main site for what used to be playstation underground, though psu technically still exists.
PSN, the Playstation Network, is for PS3. It is a comprehensive online experience showing you which of your friends are online, what games they're playing, lets you go join them quickly, instant messaging, video chat, lots of other stuff, and the 3d virtual-world "PS Home" will be added to it within a few months. But alas, that's only for ps3. You can still contact your ps3-using friends, and tell them to join you on a ps2 server, though.

YES U CAN PLAY ONLINE GAMES on PS2. But it is only for some games that say "Broadband Online" on the front of the case.(its in gray.) but u can only use it to play games, not like the ps3 to use internet browser and such...
just plug in ur internet from your modem using an Ethernet cord and then follow the steps. u will need a memory card to save online configuration.

yes, but its based off the games you plau. Each game that's online capable, have thier own online server.
