depends on the type of meditation. It is said that one should constantly chant the holy names of God. That is meditating on the sound vibration of Gods names, which is God. We do our sadhana of jappa for at least 16 rounds a day about 2 and 1/2 hours that is to set the rest of the day so we will constantly be in touch with God the rest of the day. Other meditational process are generally mechanical and one must do severe austerities and be in a secluded place and not have any sense gratification. This is not recommended in this age because we are short lived and not qualified to do such meditation. Those ancient practices where to meditate upon God within the heart. But this practice becomes automatically achieved when one practices Bhakti Yoga and the chanting of the holy names because it is not a mechanical meditation process and you need not give up anything accept sinful activities. It is so simple nice and joyfully preformed. But who will do it. They would rather take the difficult path, which God does not recommend. And they do it incorrectly and in the end make no real spiritual advancements. This so called hatha yoga kundalini yoga ect.,being practiced today is bugus. They don't know what the goal is and no one is doing it correctly and those few who are it is unnecessary.

One should meditate as long a one needs to to feel clear emotionally and centered. Some people take on a lot more mentally and emotionally and require more time meditating. Twenty minutes may be alright at times, an hour may be right at another time, depending on your skill and need. You do have to fit it in, so you might have to vary the time based on when you are able to find the time. Don't just do it for no reason or need. Do it for a purpose. I would meditate at least once a day a minimum of ten minutes, more if needed.

Meditate is a big word. There are different kinds of meditation.
Ps. 119 uses the word meditate to refer to reflection on the word of God. I think prayer is meditation when you are talking to God and reflecting on His answer.
Meditation in the Hindu sense is quite different in that they are often using a mantra which is words in Hindi which are calling on an evil spirit to speak to you. The Bible also warns us of this in Jesus own words not to pray as the heathen do repeating words like the Catholics and Muslim and Hindus.

Minimum 20 minutes early morning & evening around 6p.m
It's always good to do at the same time.
This is for the beginner's.
Once you start to enjoy your meditation there is no time limits.
Until you are always in a meditative state when you are fully awake you have to do it.
This is called sahaja yoga[ nishtai], you needn't practice meditation after that.

That would depend on the state of consciousness of the individual that is doing the meditation. The further one transcends beyond the personal ego, the less meditation it takes to maintain a transpersonal place of awareness.

I meet with a team as quickly as a week and meditate for greater or less 40 5 minutes, and previous that it rather is in basic terms ten or fifteen minutes right here and there in the process the week. Doing it in a team keeps me from turning out to be to be bored and giving up. as far as morning vs. night, it quite is a private selection. i could say attempt the two.

24 hours a day!
Meditation means Samadhi (from the Sanskrit word Samadhan = Sthith Pragyan), which means resolution to all the problems.

Usually 15 minutes, twice daily-once in the morning and once in the evening-preferably on a relatively empty stomach, all our life.It is supposed to calm the body and mind and awaken our spiritual nature. Generally, such a state is reached by loosening the power of thought and increasing the interval between thoughts.

What you mean by meditation?
I mean meditation is growth. If you are not there, growth has no meaning.
Growth is not often or long but continuous.

normally one should mediate at least for minutes equal to his age for eg if you are 20 then you must meditate for at least 20 minutes a day. nut in actual sense there is no duration for meditation you can be in it for one minute or it can also become your attitude.
