SDHC had not been invented when your camera was made. Idac123 has a link showing that 512 KB is the maximum guaranteed so that's the official word, but it will probably take up to a 2 GB card. The "HC" cards only work in certain newer cameras designed to address tha tmuch memory.

It could possibly be a sdhc card and your camera may not me compatible with that kind of Memory card. I'd reccomend getting a new SD card and trying that out and if that doesn't work i'd try bringing your camera into the store to get it checked on.

I don't see any indication that it supports a 4GB card. Getting one big card is too much of "putting all your eggs in one basket" for me. See if you can swap it for smaller ones.

I have a camera that takes high capacity cards but decided I would be better off getting a bunch of smaller capacity ones. Not only are they cheaper but they solve the problem that if you put all your vacation or special occasion pix on one card you have major grief if that card is lost or damaged. I feel more comfortable with a dozen half gig cards in terms of avoiding a disaster. I have one big card but usually use the smaller ones. You might want to try the same approach.

That's very possible...a while back, I got a 2 GB SD card for my older 2.5 year old camera and it wouldn't accept anything over like 512 mb. Kind of annoying, but you should be able to swap it out to something smaller. Good luck.

There are a lot of fake cards about .
Maybe you got one of those ?
Does the pc confirm that there is 4GB on the card ? ( around 3.8 GB on genuine cards ) .
but you already stated the most probable reason , your camera doesnt support 4 GB.

Maybe the card needs formatting before use.
