I woke up today with sore upper leg front and back quadriceps. I want to go out now to at least walk slow. Should I?

When you are starting a new exercise regime, it is not uncommon to be a little sore. Spend a little extra time stretching and just go out for an hour walk at a normal pace. This will allow time for your leg muscle to recover and still maintain your build-up. Most running/walking programs alternate between hard days and easy days to allow for rest and recovery. And ibuprofen wouldn't hurt either.

However, if you think it may be more than just sore muscles, please consult a doctor.

Upper front leg = quadriceps
Upper back leg = hamstrings

I'd say you're suffering from normal runner's soreness caused by being new. But you could have overdone it a bit. How long did you jog???

Nevertheless, I'd suggest maybe a half-hour to 45 minute easy walk; the same tomorrow if you feel any residual soreness.

The biggest problem here is the hamstring muscles. You gotta make sure that gets rested and there is no pain or soreness before you go jogging again.

Good Luck
