I'm assuming by "toxic" you mean its ability to kill or severely injure tissues.

Firstly, all "medicines" are "toxic"---even water is toxic if you drink too much or drown in it. And so, when a doc scripts a med, it reacts differently in each person.... hence all the warnings. It is difficult to compare and contrast Trycyclics and Serotonins. One works in one person, and not in another, and some are combined with, say a tranq, to get a cocktail that will help someone drepressed better than either of them alone. So, your question is rather, 'Compare and Contrast the reaction of one's attitude toward an apple and an orange." It would depend upon the person, and that is why docs start with the lowest dose of either, then tweek to see how the patient's depression reacts. Probably your best source of info is a PDR, current one, keeping in mind what I just shared. Neither works well in suicide attempts, if that is a concern.... you just stay drowsy, longer.

Hope this helps.
