sounds like she's fine...

they are mainly night creatures so it may be that she is up when you are asleep (other people have also said this).

I wouldn't worry about the hamster eating allot - i would be more worried if she suddenly started to lose weight. - are you sure she isn't making a pile of food in her cage, hamsters naturally store food. Mind you one of my hamsters isn't making food stores and she was HUGE then she suddenly lost weight.

poggy hamster = cute - sorry had to put that in :-)

MERRY CHRISTMAS.

P.S. i would be very happy if i didn't have to disable my pets wheels at night - unfortunately the wheels keep me awake so i have to.

This is normal, hamsters are nocturnal meaning they sleep all day. Your hamster probably does use her wheel at night when you don't notice her. I wouldn't worry too much about your hamsters weight, but always feed her fresh and cleaned cut up apples and grapes... Those are very healthy for the hamster. Hamster yogurt bites and other sugary snacks sold at pet stores can be fattening so don't feed your hamster as much of those, but healthier hamster treats and buy a grain based hamster pellet mix.
Have a happy holiday with your hamster!

Hamsters sleep during the day, and are up at night. So when you're sleeping, it's up, which is why you are not seeing it awake a lot. Every hamster i've had has been chubby, that's just the way they look. So unless you are over-feeding it, i'm sure it's fine :-)

Are you sur eshe is not pregnant? my friend bought one and it had a litter the next month. If not you should put it in a ball. If you have a dog or cat then keep the ball in your room away from curious onlookers. THey tend to sleep for 14 hrs a day so they don't ge that active. I always woke mine up during the day but i tdid not help.
