Imagine the likes of Greg Williams winning a fairest & best for any club. He may, at times, have been the best - but fair?
He wouldn't have lasted two minutes under the match review scrutiny that present day players have to put up with.

Geelong. He played for 2 years ,managing to play 34 games, but to failed win one either year.
He won his first Brownlow with the Sydney Swans in 1986 with 17 votes (a record low for the winner) and the second with Carlton in 1994 with 30 votes (close to the highest ever).
