Because they just are. It's like saying why a sweater from Prada is like $500 sometimes. It' the label. People (i.e. Paris Hilton, or other celebraties) are willing to pay. All they are paying for is the label. If the jeans come from an expensive brand, why would the jeans cost $20? They would have to fit in with the other stuff that is being sold. You can't have a Sweater selling for $500 and a pair of jeans selling for $20. That doesn't make any sense. It's all about making money, even if they are the sh*ttiest pair of jeans in the world.

Because these brands want to cultivate a following of celebrities and rich people, who are the only people who can afford to buy any of them. They don't want everyone to buy their jeans. They want it to be cool first, so they can appear in magazines like Vogue and Elle and Marie Claire, and only then will they start to go mainstream.

jeans are expensive.i think that they are expensive because of the material(denim)with all the earth problems global warming , illegal logging blahhh bla bla... since there are fewer and fewer trees and plants blah bla bla... the plants used to make denim are getting fewer. so, the jeans companies have to buy it for a higher price. a higher price is what you see on the tags now. i think

It depends on the brand name. If you are not willing to pay full price on them, try shopping at Winners. They have great prices on brand name labels for less.
