I could be wrong but I think the 1600 x 1200 (max resolution) is a regular screen monitor over 21" and 1600 x 1050 (max resolution) like my Samsung 22' is a wide screen monitor.

1600 x 1200 would be a different monitor, I am assuming larger than 22". I am running DUAL Samsung 22" both at 1650 x 1050 and I would say 1650 x 1050 is perfect.

The answer to your question is 1600 x 1200. It has more pixels, therefore if you believe bigger is better than there lies your answer.

1600 by 1200 is a 'regular' 4:3 aspect ratio

1680 by 1050 is a widescreen 16:10 aspect ratio.

So, do you want a regular screen or a widescreen?

4:3 is better for web browsing, and document viewing. It also has the higher total number of pixels.

16:10 is better for watching movies and gaming (provided the game supports widescreen). Some people prefer it for having multiple windows open at once as they prefer things spread across rather than around.
