Hi,

Divide out a 2 as the GCF: 2(x - 4y) That's factored form.

2x - 8y
---...---- = 2(x - 4y)
.2.....2

You could also divide out a -2 to get -2( 4y - x) , but that's not what you would normally do.

First thing we have to find out the biggest common factor between 2 and 8. The common factor is 2.
We then take it out.
We put 2 in front of the brackets. 2( - ) To nedds to be multiplied to x to get 2x so we have 2(x- ) and we need to multiply it by 4y to get 8y and we then get 2(x-4y). That's the answer.

You take out a 2 so it would look like

2 (x - 4y)
