The moon falls into the sky when the day breaks. The sun breaks the the darkness and brings light to us. The moon rises and falls while the sun breaks and fades. Well technically, The sun rises and sets but that is good too!

May be coz it looks like the sun falls down the horizon and in the morning the sun comes up breaking the darkness... Not sure tho

Because the sun goes down, which means that darkness seems to travel down towards the horizon but the sun rises in the morning giving the appearance that light breaks over the horizon.

In ancient times before calanders were used to mark the orbit and rotation of the planet earth, people used to think the sun fell bolow the ocean or horizon then broke through the other horizon in the morning.

well its obvious really... the sun rises and appears to breaks through the dark.
sun sets and is going down, giving the illusion of night falling onto the sun.
