While in jail a warrent was served on him from another county for contempt of court for failure to pay child support. Is sentence that he is serving is about to be up., then he has to face these new contempt charges the day he is released. Will they give him a bond amount? He has not paid for 2 years. One of those years he was incarcerated. Are we looking at additional jail time. As soon as he finishes this sentence will they add on time for the child support?? I am real confused about this process

The warrent served now constitutes a "holder". That means, as you know, that as soon as his time is up on the current charge, he will be remanded to the second jurisdiction. At the first hearing, a Judge has exactly three things he is allowed to do. He can set a bond, he can deny a bond or he can raise a bond. If a bond is set, it can be a cash bond ( no bondsman and paying just 10%), a bond or Release on Own Recognizance ( which means no money to get out of jail). Without knowing the jurisdictional area or particulars of the case involved other than spending one of the two years in jail, it would be impossible to even second guess which direction this would take. Good luck and I hope this has helped you.

This really depends on the state. In at least one state, the only possible bond is a cash bond for the entire amount of child support due. I am sure states vary from no bond at all available to various forms of bond. Check with your lawyer.

In Franklin County, Pennsylvania, he would actually be sent to jail but could be out on "work release" almost immediately. The county will provide him housing, but he would be out working to pay the arrearages.

separate crime....means separate sentence. He will most likely be able to bond out of jail.

if his income is zero because he is in jail he doesn't have to pay for that year....maybe next time just keep your mouth and your legs shut
