It's congratulating parents on the birth of their child, and acknowledging that it may be a little late in doing it.

Well, "Your help would be greatly appreciated" usually means that someone will be really glad for any assistance that is provided to them.

Just kidding.

"long overdue" That means it's late, and they should have been more prompt in sending the email.

"congratulate you guys" That means give happy warm fuzzies to some males, which would be really weird condsidering the next phrase is "on the birth of your son." Are they putting congratulations on somebody's birthing process? "congratulate you ON the birth." And is it possible to congratulate guys (plural) on the birth of anything? Is there a gal missing, I'm thinkin'? ;0)

The congratulatory e mail should have been sent a while ago, even though it is late, the sender wants to congratulate the parents of the baby boy
There is ,i think an undertone of regret at being late & so a hope this delay will be overlooked, this later part is implied though not voiced.

First, it's an apology for not e-mailing you sooner and the main point is congratulations on the birth of your son.

I am unable to know what is the difficulty in understanding the purport of this message, It is a message addressed to a couple who have brough forth a sweet child into this world. Howevr, it appears that the sender could not send this message at the opportune time but then he did not hold himself back in congratulating the couple H e has apologised for the delay.

I do hope a new tiny guest has arrived in your house!Blessings

The person meant to send some sort of congratulations a lot sooner but for whatever reason could not or did not do so but wanted to make sure you were aware that they were happy for your new baby.
