I remember a long time ago my parents bought a brand new TV, it was so beautiful when taken out of the box and all the wrapping, so neatly packed and clean, beautifull. My first thought was to destroy it, why?

that had nothing to do with it not being solely for me, nor did it have anything to do with it distracting attention away from mw, I saw its purity, how nice it looked and I thought of all the hard work it took to make it like that. It was pure and uncorupted, so fresh and new, perfect in every sense of the world.

Perhaps you wanted it all for yourself, but knew that it was not to be!!
Another possibility is that you were perhaps very young and got worried that the TV was hogging all attention of your parents depriving you your due.

Because you were rebelling against a culture of consumerism, materialism and greed where individuals are taught to believe our value as human is based on the sum of our material possessions. Or maybe your just a di#@.
