Nothing - - - - no matter what people say it is your life and you ought to be able to do whatever you wish and no you are not being selfish unless the act of suicide takes down others (such as blowing yourself up in your apartmnent in a crowded building or ramming your car into a bus).........
The main reason why suicide is 'wrong' is because inherently people want to control the lives of ohers. They want control and that means not letting people makes such a personal decision. Much like how so called Right-to-Lifers support the Death Penalty. 'GOD/JESUS brought you into this World and WE reserve the right to kill you.' It doesn't make a lot of sense but that is how it is.

Most of the time, the peoples lives that are being taken, are just going through a stage in their life of depression, quite often just for as long as the depression may last.
What i think is wrong is that there are 1000's upon 1000's of kids in Africa that would LOVE to have the same opportunities in life that the suicidal person in a well of country has. The children in Africa are extremely for even a simple meal, yet there are people that have limitless meals, countless opportunities to go somewhere in life and they throw it away. Just one way of looking at it.
But those that are contemplating suicide aren't in the right mind frame to know any better. Just not a good situation all together.
Euthanasia is different in my opinion.
A reason I'm against suicide for your normal person (Not euthanasia), is that in the right frame of mind (depression and disease free), such a person would not be contemplating suicide. Thus it is a responsibility of others to help this person get through their vulnerable time, and enjoy the rest of their life.
I'm sure you will discover many people tat are thankful for being talked out of suicide. Even if you found just one, then that is at least one life saved. Worth it in my opinion.

I agree! but society doesn't. First of all, it was seen in religion as the ultimate sin. God gave you life and you have no right to take it away. Then it became a crime to attempt/commit suicide. I think the world is changing, thanks Dr. K and allowing those who are terminal and wish to end their suffering to do so. But it will take a long, long time for society to believe as you and I do, that it is our own personal choice whether we want to participate in life or not.

For the person who commits suicide, it can be a permanent solution to possibly a temporary problem.
For the person's family and friends, it is a life sentence of pain and sadness.
For someone with a terminal illness and great pain or disability, then I believe they should have the choice.

When the whole world is life positive, it is only the humans that have the choice about it.
See, even the cells in our body wish to live, that is why when some insect bite occurs, the cells stand up and fight, we have a swelling, even though we may be on a 'hunger-strike-unto-death' at that very moment!
Now, it is upto us to decide whether to exercise this choice judiciously, or irresponsibly !

Because it is wrong. It is not much different than murder. Hating yourself is just as bad as hating another and killing them. Know ye not that ye are not your own but were bought with a great price. You have free will but you are not in full charge of your body and soul. The one who created you has a purpose for you here on this earth and it is not up to you to change that destiny. The Lord is in charge of when you are ready to go to the next life and be exalted.

Even if you don't consider it to be a sin there are still things wrong with it.
1- It's incredibly selfish.
2- It's extremely cowardly
3- It shows lack of character

How can you take away something which doesn't belong to you?
Even if it be YOUR body, it was made by Our Creator.
Who are you to take life? Can you give life?
If "Yes", then you have the right to kill.
If not, you can't take life!

IT doesn't hurt just you, but your loved ones even more. Suicide is one of the most selfish acts you can ever do.
