my 2.5 mth old baby hates it when i burp him on my lap..any other way?

i usually do the 'sitting on the lap' method..when i burp him he will drop back his head and pull up his leg, when i do the "over the shoulder' he will roll his head left and right, and i have to support his head which makes it hard for me to rub his back on both style..and I'm nervous on trying the 'on his tummy' method..any other way to burp him?

just keep him upright, hold his head, that is the most important thing, he will burp by himself, as long as he's upright

you could try laying him across your lap/knees on his tummy and rubbing his back. I always found this the quickest way to burp them. Or lay him over your forearm on his belly with his head resting in your hand and his legs either side of your elbow. Use the other hand to rub his back. Sounds strange but my kids loved this postion and used to fall asleep like that all the time.

I am pretty lucky- my baby just have to sit up really straight and just leave him for a bit and play with him and he burps most of the time.

SIT HIM ON UR LEG ...HIS LEGS INBETWEEN URS LIKE A VICE AND PROP HIM THERE AND LET HIM LEAN FORWARD AND BURP HIM ...THAT WORKED FOR MEOR SIT HIM AWAY FROM YOU AND PUT UR HAND ON HIS SHOULDER..WHATEVER HAND U GRIP HIM WITH . FINGERS UNDER THE CHIN AND THUMB BEHIND THE HEAD SO U CAN HOLD HIM THERE A ND HE WONT MOVE AND TRY THAT WAY....OR LAY HIM TUMMY DOWN ACROS UR LEGS BUT ONLY HIS LEGS SRE SUPPORTED ON UR LEGS AND CUP HIS CHEST AND CHIN TO SUPPORT HIS HEAN SO THIS WAY HE CANT HARDLY FIGHT,,,,GOOD LUCK

try laying him on your arm tummy down. Your hand should be cradling him just under his chin. Or I know you said you weren't interested in this tummy position.....but lay him tummy down across your lap....keeping his mouth and nose clear of course.
