If it acts like captain kirk then we are in trouble other than that I am afraid the governement would blow anything up it didn't understand. I think I would not beleive my eyes.

what kind of alien? like Sigourney Weaver aliens? or e.t. alien?
if it was the man thrashing alien i wouldn't even bother running. I'd just crap my pants and cry and hope it's some dude in a suit and i'm on a t.v. show.
If it was e.t. we'd do cool stuff, like run from the cops, drink beer, laugh at farts, and eat dough nuts.

aliens?? well to be honest of course you'll be surprised at first. but the heck!! they're a specie that ain't human nor are they from earth, so why be totally scared?? if i we're to see one (or a group instead), that would be exciting! who knows?? they could even understand our language and maybe, we can too!! hehe!

No, even if there is life on other planets they would be so far away that they could probably never get here even traveling at the speed of light.
